We booked a 3-hour surf lesson hoping to come back the following day if it was good. We were two females traveling together with some surf experience, having had 5-6 lessons in different countries. We're both definitely beginners, but this was the worst lesson we've had, and we won't be coming back. The instructor was very slow to get going, faffing around with his dog and the boards in the parking lot. He then got triggered by "a bad man walking by" and acted strange for the rest of the morning, repeating he didn't like "the bad man". The lesson started 30 minutes late while we sat there and watched other people surf while the sun got hotter. The instructor (Manuel aka Uco) wasn't very clear in English and we struggled to understand what he was saying sometimes. The on-shore lesson didn't take into account or experience and half of it was stories about big waves or other clients. Once out on the water, Uco was helpful, holding our boards in turns and guiding us to catch a few waves, but the ocean was very mellow so there was a lot of waiting around. That said, other people were catching a lot more waves and doing more surfing, while we were listening to his stories he insisted on finishing before sending us off on a wave. I didn't really feel I learned anything having surfed a few times before and I was really hoping to improve. It was not worth the money and I see now why locals won't recommend this school. - via
