Going to Ocean Hut was one of my favorite stops after the beach when I first started learning how to surf. The staff were always so nice and helpful with our brief encounters and I was scouting out the boards and service knowing I’d likely return this summer to purchase a hard top. One day, though, I felt they were super standoffish, sarcastic, and short with me friend and I, practically pushing us out of the shop because we were beginners. Now that I’ve improved drastically and am looking for a new fiberglass board I’m sad to report that I’d rather not support this local Lavallette business after that experience and I’ll never return or recommend to any of my local friends. All the surfers I’ve met out in the water are always extremely friendly, supportive, and NOT gatekeepers, as Ocean Hut turned out to be the exact opposite of everything as true surfer stands for. Hopefully others have had better service here… Complete arrogance exhibited by the owner, NOT worth supporting! - via
