My 10 year-old daughter is trying to get SCUBA certified. She studied online and went to High Tide to take her written test. After the test, they scored it and told her she passed. She was elated. I double-checked with the instructor who said she did pass with a 74. He said she missed 13 of the 50 questions and said they went over the ones she missed. He said he’d see us at the pool today. They sent an email with directions to the pool and a list of what to bring. Today (pool day), I got a call from High Tide asking if we were on the way. I said we would be there by 5 (pool time). The girl said she sent an email explaining that my daughter had not passed the test and needed to come in to retake it. I double-checked my email. I only ever received the one with directions. When I called, I asked why they told my daughter she passed if she hadn’t. The girl couldn’t give me an answer. I explained that a 74 is passing everywhere else in the world, and she said that they have to follow SSI standards, to which I responded, “Then FOLLOW them! Don’t tell a little girl she passed a test if she didn’t!” This place has no idea what they’re doing. They don’t even know what counts as passing standards for the test they are supposedly qualified to give. If you’re looking to get certified, go with literally anyone else. If you’re looking to break your little girl’s heart, High Tide has you covered. -edit- You should also know that if you leave a critical review, they will kick you out of the program! Some companies might seek to remedy their mistakes. Not these guys. A real class act! - via google
