My wife and I spent 6 days and 5 nights at Buceo Anilao and we had a great time. The diving was as good as we expected but Buceo Anilao was a top notch dive resort. Leading up to our trip, Dave Santos was very communicative and assisted us in getting everything set up for the trip. While we were there, the staff were all friendly and very helpful. The resort staff did everything for us from loading our luggage to getting our dive gear set up. All we had to do is check our nitrox tanks before every dive and show up on the boats. The dive crew even set up our dive gear and switched tanks for us after every dive.
The resort itself was really comfortable with lots of spots to relax after diving and the bar was a great place to hang out with other divers and the dive masters and talk about the dives of the day. The food was great for a dive resort and we appreciated that we could have several different Filipino dishes everyday. There was also a surprising variety in alcohol for those who partake and I had a chance to try a lot of local beers and rums and found my new favorite rum Don Papa (Thanks Dave!).
I can't speak to the other dive guides but our dive guide for the week Joemar was a major highlight of the trip. While we were able to locate a few things on our own, Joemar was incredible at finding things that were no bigger than a grain of sand. He would point at something and the first few times I wondered why he was showing us sand and then realized it was a nudibranch. Obviously, Anilao is teeming with life but Joemar was a huge reason why we saw several things on pretty much every dive.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time with Buceo Anilao and highly recommend it to any diver who wants to dive in Anilao. Hopefully we'll be back soon! - via
