I would never send my friends or family to this place... and I feel bad for the guys who flew the plane and jumped with us, because they are great. It's the manager, DonnaMarie, who ruins the experience and has no business handling anyone's money or life experiences. Here's what we discovered while waiting 4 hours to jump in dangerous conditions...
1) She'll change your time, flight or plan without regard to you... After hearing plenty of jokes about drinking too much, we see one of the workers crack open a beer. DonnaMarie asks him, "Is that a beer?" He says, "yep." So DonnaMarie tells her two customers who are supposed to jump next, "Well one of our videographers can't jump now, so if you two still want video, you're going to have to jump separately. Otherwise you can reschedule..." WHAT?! This customer just gave you $500+ for an experience with his daughter and you're going to ask him to change it because you can't lead your team?! And to get what they paid for, they've got to drive back up here and set aside another whole day!
2) We waited 4 hours to jump in safer conditions... but 4 hours later the winds were worse, so she sent us out anyway.
3) I have never witnessed a manager yell at a customer until today... Our friend gave us these skydiving passes for our wedding present. He paid full price for them, but apparently they have an expiration date. I'm not sure how my friends $400+ that he gave them became useless in less than a year, but it did not matter to DonnaMarie. She yelled at me about waiting to skydive and for my friend buying a gift card! It didn't matter to her that SHE rescheduled our last appointment and that today's weather is neither her, or our, fault.
4) She has zero regard for your money or time... while we were waiting to jump, I showed her the weather portal I use for kiteboarding. It's very accurate at determining winds because people and technology can do that these days! She refused to look at it, telling me how she looks at the sky to see if it's raining or windy and nothing else matters. She didn't care how long we waited to sky dive... she would not depend on people or technology that can tell her more than what she sees with her eyes. She told us that if we leave, we can't reschedule and if we stay, we might get to skydive... who knows?
The whole thing was unsettling and I would never send any of my friends to Skydiving Adventures in Omro, WI. Not as long as DonnaMarie is there... :/ - via
