Visited yesterday and can not speak highly enough of the experience. Everyone we encountered was polite, professional and authentic. From the guy that greeted and gave us a run down of options and another who farewelled us at the car park, the cashier who gave us tips (use the loo now, there’s nothing up there!), the barista who showed us photos of a snow covered field and shared some anecdotes with us, and the ski lift attendants top and bottom, the service was flawless and an absolute credit to the attraction.
Even the mountain bike riders (mad bunch!) were generous with their time and conversation.
Oh yeah the views were okay too
Serious stuff now.
An unexpectedly good coffee - off to a great start. We took the enclosed gondola ride up and back ($35pp) - in retrospect would’ve taken the ski lift up as it was a fine mild day. Super smooth ride. (Enclosed floor for those nervous of heights.) At the top, there is a lookout up some sturdy stairs (10-ish) that’ll provide a scenic view of the mountain ranges and Q’town. Suitable for people a little unsteady on feet as there are handrails. (The only thing to consider for those not too agile would be getting in and out of gondola).
Then a little walk up a path and clamouring up a few rocks (not difficult) you can reach the top of the peak where the panorama is breathtaking. Best to wear enclosed shoes with some grip if you can.
Transport is continuous so no wait (at least when we were there) when you were ready to descend.
I’d consider it a must do, even in summer, even if not a skier.
Added a photo to give you a taste but it’s a poor facsimile for seeing it yourself. - via
