This review is strictly related to the customer service I received, not the diving shop or the diving crew.
A few weeks ago I booked my Advanced Open Water dives with this shop. I explained my situation thoroughly through the phone and called 4 times to add rentals and make sure I paid everything in full. I was told everything was paid and I was good to go. A couple of days before the trip I called again to confirm the location, and during this call I spoke to a woman at the front desk/shop. I had a good experience with my phone calls until this last one with her. She immediately treated me with disrespect solely based on how my voice sounded on the phone, with no prior knowledge of who I was. She proceeded with a derogatory tone saying: “you know that you still haven’t paid your instructor fees right? You know you can’t just dive with your boyfriend right? You have to pay your instructor otherwise you can’t go”
At no point during any of those phone calls I had mentioned a boyfriend, she just assumed that from me having paid for two people. It’s not so much what she said, but how she said it, that was very disrespectful, especially after I had already paid $639 for the whole trip. I wouldn’t have minded paying an extra $55 for the instructor fees if this had been brought up during my previous phone calls or if she hadn’t been disrespectful to me. I was looking forward to seeing the Charleston Tug and Pinnacle Reef sites, but I went ahead and cancelled the trip because of this.
My husband was also very upset while hearing everything on speaker and I don’t condone what he said to her, but that doesn’t take away the fact that she initiated the whole ordeal.
Wish I had asked for her name, I believe she was an expert on the fishing side of the shop more than the diving side. - via
