This was just an amazing experience. My girlfriend and I dived here and it was unlike any other dive we've done.
We brought only our masks (for comfort). They have everything you need to dive, all you need is to bring your cert. Your 1 hour time block is just the perfect amount of time, since you'll be able to see everything in the hole, chill for a bit, and come back with some air left in your tank. There's not a lot to see down there - it's an empty crater with no wildlife.
John was great to work with and got us all set up and briefed for the dive. We asked for permission to take some photos, and were allowed to. They have an easy entry area where you can stand in the water to gear up.
You're not supposed to go deeper than 35 feet to prevent silting, and there really isn't anything to see down that deep, since it gets dark and silty.
The water felt amazing. No need for a wetsuit - we measured it at 94°F.
If you're just here to swim, I could see how it would be a far more tepid experience. There's not a lot of room on the surface, so you just kind of float there.
It wasn't very crowded when we visited. Maybe 10 swimmers and 6 divers total. They have 4 changing rooms and you can stash your gear along the sides of the entryway.
Parking was easy, as we were able to park about 50 yards from the crater entrance. - via
