If you're looking to dive in this area of Thailand, Long Beach and Blacktip Scuba is the place to be!
Escape the craziness (and the crowded dive boats) of Tonsai Bay and stay on Long Beach instead. You'll be just 20 minutes away from more than a dozen excellent dive sites - the same ones that dive boats from Krabi and Phuket travel up to 2 hours to reach.
The crew at Blacktip are exceptional. All instructors, all very friendly and all in love with the ocean!
I took my Advanced course here and I was glad I did, despite having issues with one particular skill. Dailos and Julia were both very kind and I was able to get over the problem with their help.
My partner (who is a DM) and I were both impressed with the team's dedication to safety. They do everything by the book and the shop is all the better for it. The equipment is in great condition and seemed new.
Group sizes are small, something else we really liked. You'll be treated as an individual here, not just a number.
I did six dives total, with my partner able to join four of them. We were alone most of the time, with just one diver joining us on two dives.
We really loved the flexibility and local knowledge of the team. They knew exactly where to go for a quieter dive.
The snorkelling at Long Beach is great too - Dailos told us the area where we may be able to see a leopard shark and we managed to find it! We also saw many blacktip sharks and eels.
If you're considering doing your Open Water in Thailand (or Advanced), I'd highly recommend Blacktip Scuba. In addition to everything already mentioned, they have an amazing beachfront infinity pool for refreshers/lessons.
We stayed at Bluesky Bungalows and it was 10 minutes walk to the shop. - via
