The Punta Uva Dive Center was am excellent source for my Advance Open Water Certification. The cost was $350 five dives over a two day period. The owner Francisco, staff Moses and Orion and my Dive Master Frederick were very hospitable, knowledgeable of scuba techniques, and friendly.
My advance course I choose an adventure dive, fish identification, underwater navigation, deep dive and night dive. All dives are subject to local conditions. So availibility may be good or limited. Four of the five dives were entering water from shore and one dive deep dive from shore.
Day 1, first dive shore entry (adventure dive) was 41 minutes, 10 feet visibility, depth 35, which I saw manta ray, flounder, sea grouper, lobster, yellow snapper, and various coral reef species. Second dive from shore entry (fish identification) was on a reef north of shore, depth 35 duration 55 minutes, saw multiple angel fish species, lobster, yellow snapper, and mana ray. Third dive was underwater navigation on shore and in water, duration an hour.. thirty minutes dive thirty minutes instruction on land.
Day 2 fourth dive was a deep dive about one mile from shore from boat. Due to boat had to put on BCD and tank in water with fins and masked already on. Awesome dive to 87 feet duration 41 minutes. I saw an.unprecedented amount of lyonfish on the first coral twelve! Encountered a second coral wall of five! The dive went through various depths of different walls and gaps good practice fir Buoyancy and sir utilization! Also saw lobster a barucuda, jellyfish, blue tang, rock hind, queen snapper and harlequin bass. The dive was a casual ascent from sand and seaweed to walls of coral.
Fifth and final dive at night was 69 minutes depth of 41. Saw a jumbo shrimp, several lobsters, two crab, sea cucumber, sea urchin, a few spotted scorpion fish, jelly fish, and a few queen snapper. Visibility was 8 feet.
All dives were without a wet suit was warm didn't need a suit. Didnt encounter any stings or brush with coral from not wearing a suit. All the equipment is included with dives. I would recommend if you have it bring own mask, fins, dive computer and flashlight.
My experience with Punta Uva Dive Shop was a positive delightful adventurous time with dives and facilitators. I highly recommend to dive for fun or certification for open
Water and advanced certification! Pura Vida! - via
