What used to be a beautiful island full of marine life is now an overcrowded and overused tourist trap. Devastated environment, plastic trash and mountains of broken concrete, hyper inflated prices, really bad food everywhere and hordes of clueless tourists who come here to show off their new tattoos while trampling on corals. "Koh Tao is not nice anymore", say the locals and I agree. The island had its magic briefly restored during COVID, but it's gone now. - via
