Diving with Nusantara has been, by far, one of the best decisions I've ever made. I've always wanted to learn how to dive, but having nearly drowned as a child, I grew up without much water confidence, and thought diving was a distant unattainable goal. I pushed myself to take the course on my trip to Bali and came out of it a changed person.
I have Alfie to thank for his terrific skills as an instructor. He was very clear while teaching and super encouraging. I remember thinking how cool it was that he could even hand signal 'I believe in you' underwater to encourage me to do a skill I was apprehensive about. The sequence of the dives were all planned very well, and allowed us to experience very diverse sights, currents and conditions. I've lost count of how many crazy sights I've seen with them - giant manta rays, sea turtles, sharks, octopus, pufferfish, and of course our favourite parrotfish :')
My family also joined me in Bali and I convinced them to try snorkelling for the first time. They also didn't have much water confidence and were quite scared at first, but with Jing's patience, positivity and guidance, they both ended up absolutely loving the experience, and have already asked me when they can snorkel again! It also helped a lot that Nusantara has Chinese instructors, because my parents mostly speak that and they felt more confident understanding instructions in a language they were familiar with. While I was there, there was also an elderly lady who tried a discovery dive with them, loved it so much and proceeded to do her OWC with Nusantara. Goes to show how easily they make their students feel comfortable and confident!
Alfie and Jing also grew to become our friends very quickly - they're both super friendly, down to hang out after dives, and also gave us the best (the BEST) food recommendations. Wayan was also an incredible guide and felt like a big brother looking out for me on our dives. He also has super sharp eyes, and we saw a lot of camouflaged fish with him. I ended up missing my flight home to stay in Bali for over 3 weeks just so I could dive more with all them. At the end of it, I got 3 different certifications and a lifechanging experience. :)
If you're considering different dive schools in Bali, you won't go wrong with Nusantara. - via
