We were recently in Key Largo for a long weekend. We booked morning dives to a wreck and reef. There was a short briefing mostly about non dive related subjects (the head not working, where to vomit if you were seasick, etc). We entered the water and my gf had some trouble clearing her ears. I waited for her but the Divemaster did not. She swam away never to be seen again until we were back on the boat. There was some current and we drifted a bit. I searched for the group for a few minutes then decided to surface and just wait for the boat to pick us up. When we got back on the boat I asked the Divemaster what happened and she just shrugged and said I couldn’t see you. Well the primary job of the Divemaster is to ensure the safety of the other divers. The younger boat mate (I believe they call them interns) apologized for the incident and said that is not the way we operate. Well, based on other divers’ reviews I don’t think that is true. I would steer way clear of this dive shop as they have poor safety standards. Read the other reviews by experienced divers. PS I am a 20 year diving veteran who has been to over a dozen countries. - via
