I would have booked storage which is identical to the fee for using the kite beach. In my opinion, the fee or price for this is boldly high. You pay more than 20€ per day here, which is about twice as expensive as at other stations. At other stations in Egypt, which I found better, it costs about half. If you take several days at a time it will be cheaper, but if you need the rescue boat more often it will be even more expensive
The staff at the beach are super nice, very helpful - that was really perfect. The lifeboat people were different. Some wanted to bring you back immediately if you just went downwind a bit, to have peace and quiet even though you weren't pushing at all. Or someone wanted extra money to go upwind with a kite on the boat. Others were super nice and gave a bit of time to go upwind again.
Upwind from the spot there is hardly any space and it is a bit difficult for people who are not very good at kiting, because you have to dodge all the time and in case of doubt it is better to go downwind again. There is no possibility to drive upwind from the spot, so it's a bit busy. There's not a lot of space in width either. Kiting is quickly over downwind because you could be picked up immediately.
This coupled with the very gusty or very changeable wind is not ideal for less experienced kiters. At 500 meters the wind changes 2-3 times due to the cover of houses and there are also gusts. You learn well how to cope with adverse conditions when kiting, but that's not kiting for pleasure. At least not when there isn't enough wind for kites 10 and smaller. The Kitehouse itself can't do much about that, but the location makes a big difference. That should be much better when the second spot in the south is finished.
The restaurant is very good, but the man who is almost always at the counter seems like he's not in the mood. It's easy to feel guilty when ordering something. And it was like that every day.
Also the German lady at the front desk seemed only partly friendly, when I first contacted her it was rather neutral. If I go there to overpay for storage I would like a little more friendliness. It got better later, but first impressions are very important.
A highlight was Mahmud, the bus driver of the small bus, who was always super nice and courteous.
All in all, I was unfortunately a bit disappointed because I had a hard time with it and there was a lack of friendliness at times.
Until the kite station in the south is finished, I can therefore only recommend it for experienced kiters who can cope well with changeable winds. I probably won't come back.

Ich bin und war ein wenig hin- und her gerissen, welche Bewertung ich hier abgeben soll - mein Eindruck schwankte im Laufe der 9 Tage in Soma Bay von 2 bis 4 Punkten hin und her.
Ich hätte Storage gebucht, was identisch mit der Gebühr für die Benutzung des kite-Strabdes ist. Die Gebühr bzw. Der Preis hierfür ist meines Erachtens dreist hoch. Pro Tag zahlt man hier über 20€, was ca. doppelt so teuer wie bei anderen Stationen ist. An anderen Stationen in Ägypten, die ich besser fand, kostet es ca. die Hälfte. Wenn man mehrere Tage am Stück nimmt wird es billiger, aber wenn man öfter das resucue Boot braucht, wird es nochmal teurer
Die Mitarbeiter am Strand sind super nett, sehr hilfsbereit - das war wirklich perfekt. Die Leute vom Rettungsboot waren unterschiedlich. Manche wollten einen sofort zurück holen, wenn man nur Mal ein bisschen downwind fährt, um seine Ruhe zu haben, obwohl man gar nicht antreibt. Oder einer wollten extra Geld um einen mit kite auf dem Boot upwind zu fahren. Andere waren super nett und haben einem bisschen Zeit gelassen wieder Upwind zu fahre.
Upwind von dem Spot ist kaum Platz und es ist für Leute, die nicht sehr gut Kiten etwas schwierig, da man dauernd ausweichen muss und im Zweifel besser einmal mehr downwind fährt. Die Möglichkeit upwind von Spot zu fahren gibt es ja nicht, deswegen tummelt es sich ein wenig. Besonders viel Platz in der breite ist ja auch nicht. Downwind ist das Kiten dann schnell vorbei, da man sofort eingesammelt werden könnte.
Das gepaart mit dem sehr böigen bzw. sehr wechselhaften Wind ist für nicht so erfahrene Kiter nicht optimal. Auf 500 Metern wechselt der Wind durch die Abdeckung von Häusern 2-3 Mal und dazu kommen noch Böen. Man lernt gut, mir widrigen Verhältnissen beim Kiten zurecht zu kommen, aber Genuss-Kiten ist das nicht. Zumindest nicht, wenn nicht genug Wind für Kites 10 oder kleiner ist. Da kann das Kitehouse selbst wenig dafür, aber der Ort macht eben doch viel aus. Das sollte deutlich besser werden, wenn der zweite Spot im Südlicher fertig wird.
Das Restaurant ist sehr gut, aber der Mann, der fast immer an der Theke ist, wirkt zumindest als hätte er keinen Bock. Man fühlt sich leicht schuldig, wenn man etwas bestellt. Und das war jeden Tag so.
Auch die deutsche Dame an der Rezeption wirkt nur teilweise freundlich, bei meinem ersten Kontakt war es auch eher neutral. Wenn ich dort hin komme, um zu viel für storage zu bezahlen, würde ich mir ein wenig mehr Freundlichkeit wünschen. Später wurde es dann besser, aber der erste Eindruck ist eben sehr entscheidend.
Ein Highlight war Mahmud der Busfahrer des kleinen Busses, der war immer super nett und zuvorkommend.
Insgesamt war ich leider etwas enttäuscht, da ich mich sehr schwer getan habe und es teilweise an Freundlichkeit gemangelt hat.
Bis die kite Station im Süden fertig ist, kann ich es daher nur für erfahrene Kiter empfehlen, die gut mit wechselhaftem Wind zurecht kommen. Ich werde vermutlich nicht wieder kommen. - via
