If you're in the metro Detroit area and thinking about scuba diving, this is the place to go! My husband has been open water certified for over a decade, and it was finally time for me to join him. I signed up for the destination certification, which meant I took the online course and confined water dives with Huron, and completed my certification with four open water dives on a Caribbean vacation two weeks later. My husband also joined me for some of the sessions to complete a refresher course of his own (he highly recommends it for anyone who hasn't been on a dive in some time).
I was so lucky to work with Brian (the owner) at Huron on my certification! Not only did he accomodate my schedule (he was able to schedule 4 private pool sessions with me within two weeks of me reaching out); most importantly when I struggled on some of the skills he was perfectly patient and supportive. You can also tell almost immediately that he truly loves scuba and wants to share that passion with everyone he can. He helped me select appropriate gear to get started, and was available to answer any questions. To be honest, I did not know what I was getting into - but when I worried I wasn't going to be able to do it, he convinced me that I could and even sent me encouraging text messages in between sessions.
Two weeks later, I completed my certification in St. Maarten and was diving with stingrays, sea turtles, and reef sharks! I highly recommend Huron scuba and am looking forward to a whole new way to travel, thanks to Brian! - via
