All the rooms are on the internal patio of the hotel / diveshop, which means that you'll have to bear with the music of the bar played by the owner-managers including when you're trying to fall asleep. Also, most of the times the pool was so dirty that it looked like a green swamp. Finally, it took them several days until they fixed a leak in the bathroom of my room. My experience at Dive Komodo was absolutely amazing! I was there for 4 weeks as a Divemaster Trainee and got to know them very well. Highly recommended for fun dives, for learning how to dive and for becoming a divemaster!
Everyone is very nice and friendly and always going out of their way to help the customers and accommodate everyone's needs and desires while always putting safety first. In fact, all the customers I met during my time there were very happy and truly excited at the end of the dive day.
Sofia Tedestam was my instructor and I felt so uplifted every time I saw her. Always smiling, positive, resourceful and very creative in finding ways to get me trained in spite of the limited time we had. She was so good at giving feedback and developing me: we always spent 30 minutes to an hour after the diving day to discuss my performance, training plan and how to get better. She empowered me from day one and made me more self-confident.
As for the dive center, they are truly engaged in the local community: they continuously host high school trainees and develop the locals from open water divers all the way to divemaster. They're also very conscious about the environment and we event went to clean a beach once together with Trash Hero!
My heartfelt thanks go to Sofia, the divemasters, the office staff and the boat crews.
