Today I want to share the unfortunate and terrible experience we had with Cabo Pulmo Divers. My family and I are from Guatemala, staying at a hotel in Cabo San Lucas, and we planned a family trip with the sole purpose of diving together in Cabo Pulmo. We had everything planned in advance and had already scheduled our dive for 4 people with Cabo Pulmo Divers. Unfortunately, yesterday, Hurricane Norma began its path towards this area. However, it's important to note that it hasn't rained yet, and it's still sunny.
We had the dive scheduled for 12:00 pm. As we were aware of the hurricane and possible complications (even though I repeat, there are no signs of it yet), we sent a message to confirm our dive at 8 in the morning. We quickly received a reply that literally said, "Correct, we'll be waiting for you." Upon receiving this message, we proceeded to confirm the rental car and began our journey of over 2 hours and more than 100 kilometers to Cabo Pulmo, very excited.
Upon our arrival, Cabo Pulmo Divers representatives informed us that we couldn't dive due to the unfavorable conditions. They claimed to have known since 10 in the morning that the afternoon dive wouldn't be possible. When we asked why they hadn't informed us, they simply replied, "Well, we were able to do the morning dives."
I want to make it clear that we understand that the weather is beyond anyone's control; that wasn't the issue. The problem was the lack of consideration and the fact that Cabo Pulmo Divers didn't notify us of the dive cancellation (resulting in us losing 5 hours of our last day in Cabo San Lucas). To make matters worse, they were extremely uncooperative and even sarcastically blamed us for not checking the weather. They never offered an apology or showed an ounce of empathy. In fact, they were quite rude and unfriendly. I would recommend looking for another tour operator if you want to avoid a bad experience (there are plenty of options nearby with much more courteous staff). - via
