Wakatobi Dive Resort is beyond amazing. My husband and I spent a portion of our honeymoon there and we were absolutely blown away. We both kept saying, “this is paradise” to each other during our stay.
Wakatobi staff: I have never felt as welcomed or taken care of by resort staff than at Wakatobi. Shout out to Ibram (restaurant manager), Ipin (wait staff), Marek (dive team), and Shoko (dive team); every single staff member we interacted with was helpful, warm, friendly, and hospitable. I cannot emphasize enough just how incredible the service and staff were - they are the heart of Wakatobi.
Diving: my husband and I were certified right before the pandemic, so we weren’t able to take full advantage of our certifications until now. We’d only been able to get in 5 or so dives before Wakatobi. When researching where to go, we wanted some place spectacular, and boy did Wakatobi deliver. The diving is world-class and white-glove. There is SO much to see and the reef is colorful and full of life. Shoko, our guide, enhanced our dives with dive briefings before each site and by pointing out the rare wildlife throughout the dives. We loved her. No joke, almost every guest we met during our stay was 1) a repeat guest of Wakatobi and b) a highly experienced diver. One woman we met was on her 8th trip back to Wakatobi! Every experienced diver we spoke to said Wakatobi is one of their all-time favorite places to dive. By the end of our stay, my husband and I understood why people return to Wakatobi and we cannot wait to go back! Also, on our last day there, we snorkeled at the house reef and WOW, it was incredible.
Food: come prepared to eat. Every meal we had at Wakatobi was delicious and they do a fabulous job of switching up the menu from meal to meal and from day to day. I loved that there was Indonesian food with a continental spread. I was so impressed by the food and the capability of that kitchen!
Lodging: very comfortable stand-alone bungalows with a pillow menu! AC and Wi-Fi worked great with no problems. We were able to stream Netflix at night with no issues. The cleaning crew are like secret elves that you never see that refresh your room with towels and turndown service and leave invitations to happy hour.
Like I said before, we cannot wait to go back to Wakatobi. The staff, the dives, the landscaping, the food, the lodging, the guests, the massages (10/10) - everything exceeded our expectations. Wakatobi made our honeymoon so special and memorable. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! - via
