This is the second year that we booked time with Pirate Divers. Last time with in 2022 and we just finished this year today (Mar 23, 2023). Mac and Lisa are both amazing people who make you feel very welcome from the first moment you join them. Whether is a beach pick-up or by car, its a warm experience from the very start. I'm an advanced diver and have completed a number of advanced skills and certificates with Pirate.
Importantly, this is a personalized experience, its not a 50 person dive boat (thank god). The equipment is all top-of-the-line and the boat is perfect for singles or midsized groups, so its you and your family with two great people (who we now call friends).
This year, my two daughters 10, 15 and my wife (age unknown) all came with hopes of getting their PADI Open Water Certification. The 10yr old did a confined water class at home prior to arrival, the 15yr old and my wife did that here in the Caymans prior to joining Mac and Lisa. We did two half days for them, two tank dives each day and they demonstrated their proficiency in each dive. With one being an adult and the other a 10yr old, one can imagine the nuanced level of instruction necessary to reach these students and the 15yr old (ugh).
In addition, in between their dives I was working on Wreck Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, etc. so you can imagine the work load.
Well, it all came off without a hitch. My wife and the kids all worked closely with Mac and Lisa and did a great job. All three are now safe, competent and well taught PADI certified divers. Today was a great day!
I hope it comes through without saying - but these are wonderful folks and this an amazing place. We, of course, will be back and I hope anyone reading this comes for a visit too. The level of instruction is top-notch and when you leave you feel like you have a comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter. There are no short cuts here, you leave a smarter and safer diver.
