I had a great experience snorkeling with ScubaCaribe and posted a review of that, but then I had a very bad experience in an attempt to wind surf. The guys at the beach acted like they did not at all want to help set up for this, even though otherwisethey were just sitting around on the beach. Nesto (or Ernesto), whose name I knew from snorkeling, would not even acknowledge me when I greeted him; he stood there stone-faced, looking right past me.
The guy who helped me in the water gave me instructions very rapidly in a thick accent that I found hard to follow. I told him I was hard of hearing, asking him to speak more slowly, but, when I asked him for clarification, he spoke even more rapidly. At one point he said, "Do you speak English?", even though he knew that was my language. He was very short with me, even making fun.
In the end, although I have done this many times before with my own sailboards, I could not begin to sail because of the surf. Maybe they were right; maybe it was silly to try, but they weren't doing other things, and at least, as customer-service workers, they could have been civil about it. - via
