My boyfriend and I were recently in Roatan and dove w Sandy Bay Divers. I’m a relatively new diver, only certified in the spring of this year and had 6 dives under my belt while my boyfriend has over 30 years experience. The first thing that stood out to me about Sandy Bay was how quickly they made me feel relaxed and welcome (thank you co owner John!) and the time they spent to be sure I had the support I needed to enjoy my dive was SO appreciated as it had been almost 6 months since my last time in the ocean so I was a little rusty. The commitment to small group experience, master diver expertise (Ernie and Roy rocked under water while Carson made sure transit to and from our dive sites was seamless) and overall intimate approach made me instantly feel comfortable and safe and allowed me to spread my wings and enjoy the ride as I knew they had my back (thank you Velvet, who helped me to secure my nitrox certification…you are a gifted teacher). While my experience w dive operations is limited, my boyfriend’s is not, and these guys have the right formula. Of course the diving is excellent (second biggest reef in the world?) and curated to ensure a safe and fulfilling experience its the team at Sandy Bay that was so special. We will be back to see our Sandy Bay family in short order. Highly recommend. - via
