The people doing the customer service are fantastic. I couldn’t ask for a better experience from Andy. I was able to book quickly and he helped with everything.
My reason for the 2 stars are related to the instructor. The first diving day didn’t go well. I did the 3 day open water certification. Unfortunately, the instructor got frustrated when the class wasn’t going at the pace he wanted. The other 2 people in my group were very late, so we started about 90 minutes behind schedule. I also really struggled with buoyancy, but he would just point out that I was too low or too close to the surface. No tips to fix this or things I could try to improve it. There are other examples too. It ended up being a frustrating and expensive day.
I ultimately decided that it was not safe for me to continue with the instructor I was assigned. I told him at the end of day 1 and he didn’t say anything. He just walked over to the driver and told her not to worry about picking me up.
I think the company is good as a whole. Everyone else I encountered or talked to were fantastic. I blame myself a bit for not being able to master the skills quickly (maybe due to anxiety) but I also can’t help but wonder how differently this experience may have been with a different instructor. - via
