Having hiked in a few countries, my husband and I were initially sceptical of the need for a local guide up the mountain. However, when we met Armada, he was kind, pleasant and trustworthy. We immediately felt comfortable in his company.
He knew the mountain like the back of his hand and doing a midnight trek in pitch darkness with someone experienced made a difference. Armada was patient and asked about our comfort level every time we scaled a steep slope. He even offered to help out with out bags which we kindly refused as we felt bad about it.
When we reached the top, he made hot tea, eggs and a banana sandwich for us. It was a really special experience to reach the summit with a local guide as company. You feel like you learn more with someone who knows the terrain. I would highly recommend Armada! He is a true professional and a great guide.
The trek to Mount Batur was amazing. Both on the summit and coming down, you get a spectacular view of Mount Agung, Abang and the lake. It was the highlight of our entire Bali trip and an unforgettable experience. - via
