I was really looking forward to my first recreational dive at this center, given the positive reviews. However, our experience fell short of our expectations. I had contacted the center a few months prior to inform them that my wife and I were newly certified open water divers, and they had assured us that they would take good care of us.
1. On the dive day, we were surprised to find ourselves paired with two advanced open water divers, which didn't seem fair to us or them, but we decided to go along with it.
2. The dive master chose a dive site on the west bank, labeled as suitable for "experienced" divers on their website. We agreed as long as the conditions were safe and within our depth limits.
3. Unfortunately, the weather conditions weren't ideal, with strong winds, large waves, and a powerful current. Given that it was our first dive, this made us quite uncomfortable and stressed.
4. The dive master's briefing on the boat was disappointingly brief and missed several crucial details. Furthermore, their attitude came across as somewhat arrogant.
5. During our descent, I noticed the absence of the PADI flag for safety, which made me uneasy.
6. Thankfully, the first dive went relatively well.
7. However, during the second dive near the shore where the current was stronger and visibility was poor, my air supply started running low after just 20 minutes. To our surprise, the dive master showed little concern and asked my buddy and me to ascend alone, leaving us in a potentially risky situation. This contradicted what had been mentioned in the briefing about ascending together as a group in case of any problems.
This experience was far from enjoyable, and we felt unsafe throughout. As a result, we decided to book another dive with a different center the following day, where we found the staff to be considerate, attentive, and genuinely helpful. - via
