Palo Duro Canyon is an unknown gem. While I can kind of understand how it's not quite a national park, it is quite interesting and worth a visit. One thing I love is driving up to it. You're driving along and there is nothing to see - just flat land. It is a giant hole in the ground, so you don't see it until you get there. Some interesting, lesser seen wildlife like large spiders and horned toads seem common there. - via
