I had an opportunity to visit Native Place with my friend's parents for an hour. Astrid gave us a quick tour of this beautiful space explaining the history and present of the land. For the last 27 years, she has been working with the land to recreate the childhood that she experienced in her village. In my understanding at the core of it, she is trying to give people (especially city folks) an opportunity to reconnect with nature. I think she is doing great in that regard. This one-and-a-half-acre semi-wild-looking space not only draws at least 10-15 regular guests but also harbors all living beings including many species of birds and insects etc.!
