Captain Dan and PADI Instructors/Dive Masters Fernando & Kaitlin provided the most amazing experience for my group. In fact, every person I talked to at Big Island Divers (while planning our trip) was patient, helpful and so friendly! Most important to me was the Discover SCUBA class I took. I'm an older gal, and have been wanting to see if I would be a fit for SCUBA diving for quite some time. And now I know the answer -- yes I am! I loved it, and am now going to pursue certification. I credit instructor Fernando for this, and am sure that with someone less capable, I would not have that same feeling.
Fernando worked very closely with me and one other new diver. He's an excellent teacher -- he's very clear in the instructions he gives, and he helped me overcome my fears by the calm feelings he exuded. I felt like I was in good hands, which is a huge piece of the picture.
I'm now planning on getting the confined water portion of the certification here on the mainland, and then want to complete my open water in Hawaii -- I hope Fernando will still be with Big Island Divers next year! - via
