This was my 3rd visit to Playa Carrizalillo, and I can’t believe I waited until now take lessons with Chenek surf School - I highly recommend them for an unforgettable experience. I was inspired take my surf to the next level after meeting the owner, Julio. He has great energy, was intuitive to understand my needs, encouraged me without being intimidating, and helped me to expand to new challenges. He will go out of his way to help you achieve your goals and his fluent English made it easy for me to communicate.
I took three lessons with Julio and two with Jesus, each day becoming more comfortable and hooked on the adrenalin rush of catching waves. Their skill and dedication made all the difference with my learning curve and confidence. I’ve had two unfortunate surf experience in the past – first lesson in Hawaii getting hit by another beginner surfer, and second in Nicaragua on a shallow reef break where I was pursuaded to drop into the waves beyond my skill level. This third time was a charm, it’s great to find a professional & local company committed to personalized service and an enjoyable vibe.
Chenek provides a large variety of boards to use in the lessons and rentals, which is helpful in progressing more quickly. My biggest regret was not having more time or being in better shape so I could have the endurance to continue, but I’ll definitely be back in the future. - via
